Chandigarh, April 25, 2026:
In a significant step towards promoting India’s rich sporting heritage, the “Vth Indian Traditional Sports and Games Festival 2026” will be आयोजित at Panjab University Chandigarh with great enthusiasm and participation from across the country. The festival will be formally inaugurated on May 2, 2026, between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM by Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh.

The event is being jointly organized by Traditional Sports and Games Federation India and Directorate of Sports Panjab University Chandigarh under the leadership of Dr. Rakesh Malik, Director of Sports, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

This prestigious festival aims to revive and promote India’s traditional sports while providing a national platform for athletes, coaches, and officials. Participants from various states are expected to take part in multiple indigenous sports disciplines, showcasing the diversity and cultural richness of Indian games.

The Traditional Sports and Games Federation India is affiliated with both Asian Traditional Sports and Games Association and International Traditional Sports and Games Association, adding international recognition and credibility to the event.

Dr. Rakesh Malik has extended an open invitation to sports enthusiasts, officials, and dignitaries to attend the inaugural ceremony and encourage the participants. He emphasized that the festival is not only a sporting event but also a cultural movement aimed at preserving India’s traditional legacy.

The festival is expected to serve as a major milestone in strengthening the identity of traditional sports at both national and international levels.
